Understanding Averages and Range
Averages summarise a set of data with a single value. The three averages (mean, median, mode) each have different uses. The range tells us how spread out the data is.
Key Points:
Top Tips
- Always put data in order before finding the median
- For frequency tables, multiply each value by its frequency
- Check: your mean should be between the lowest and highest values
